First grade is studying counting patterns. Today we played an exciting game to practice counting forward and backward within 120.

✝️Our South Campus 3rd grade leaders led Mass this morning with Fr. Jared. He reminded us that being a part of the Church takes teamwork. Let's be good teammates for Christ!✝️

✝️Our North Campus celebrated Mass this morning, led by Fr. Dan and 8th graders.✝️

Yesterday, Father Jared gave our 6th and 7th graders a fascinating look at the ancient origins and meanings behind the various parts and gestures of the Holy Mass. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the beauty and richness of the Mass!

🏐We had a weekend of Phoenix home volleyball games!🏐

The Phoenix cross country team started the SPL season with season bests, personal bests, and new school records. Claire and Alex each had times that were good for third on the school’s top times at their grade level. Brody and Liam’s performances set school records at their respective grade levels. Liam beat the previous record by twenty seconds, and Brody’s time beat the previous record by a minute and a half!!

First grade read "Chrysanthemum" by Kevin Henkes and then created name mosaics.

5th Grade creates "rock candy" in their science lab this week about matter. Father Jared joined in to show what he knew.

1st -3rd created these Crazy hair portraits. We are learning all about Lines!

Will a paper airplane fly farther with or without a paper clip? 🧐❓ 4th graders applied their knowledge of the scientific method to perform their first science experiment. Ask them if their hypothesis was correct!

🎼2nd and 3rd graders reviewed their instrument families in Music class today and ended with a percussion band!🪘🪇🥁🎹

🇺🇸First graders dropped by the Kindergarten classroom to demonstrate how quickly they will learn the National Anthem, too! Last year, most of them didn’t know it at the beginning of the year either. Each week in Music class will help you learn and memorize it. We are SDJCA.

First grade discussed the writing process today. Here are some students using our brainstorming chart to help with adding details to sentences.

After Mass, our K-3 South Campus students stopped and posed with our Blessed Mother on their way back to class. 🩵✝️

✝️South Campus celebrated their first Mass of the school year this morning with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, led by Fr. Dan and the faculty. Mass concluded with a special blessing for students and teachers as we begin our year together. We are SDJCA.✝️

2nd grade was reunited with Larry the Line! He reminded students of all the different types of lines: vertical, diagonal, curved, horizontal, zigzag, and spiral.
