Congratulations to the Phoenix cross country team on their excellent performance Saturday at Settlers Hill Cross Country Course in Geneva. The 7th grade boys took first place in the A division, with Brody, Luke, Alex, Luca, Jerrick, Liam, and James all having excellent times. The 8th grade girls earned second place, led by Claire, Morgan, and Gianna. All ten runners achieved personal or season bests at the race. The team finishes their season at Oak Prairie on Tuesday.

Mummies Alive! 6th graders mummified a model as part of their study of Ancient Egypt! Students learned about the mummification process and the beliefs surrounding the afterlife in ancient Egyptian culture.

🇺🇸 Moving Through History! 📚 Our 4th graders have been busy exploring American history! Over the past two days, students rotated through six learning stations exploring the colonization and growth of our country, important wars, and the foundations of our government. Working in groups of three, students took on the roles of Reader, Writing Coordinator, and Time/Task Keeper as they read historical passages, answered questions, sequenced events, and explored how important moments in history impacted our nation and the world. They had a great time working together and “moving through history!” 🇺🇸

✝️Fr. Jared celebrated Mass on the South Campus this morning on the Memorial of St. Jerome. Jerome loved to read the Bible. Fr. Jared encouraged us to be like Jerome and read the Bible every day. The Bible is the greatest love story ever told and we are all meant to be a part of it! Great job leading Mass, 2nd grade!✝️

5th grade preparing for 🍋"The Lemonade Wars" 🍋on Friday, October 2nd. They had to shop, budget, take out a loan, fill out a loan contract, learned about profit and loss. Please come out and support this years 5th grade class and their charities.

✏️📖 Our 4th graders are becoming authors and editors! Today in Language Arts, students worked on Step 3 of the writing process: Peer Editing. Working with partners, students read one another’s autobiographies and highlighted words that could be made stronger or more interesting. They then used an online thesaurus to explore synonyms and choose more descriptive vocabulary to improve their writing. It was wonderful to see our young writers collaborating, sharing ideas, and helping one another grow! 📝✨

7th graders made marble ramps to test the effect of height on kinetic energy by increasing the amount of gravitational potential energy. Some groups even did the advanced calculations to how many Joules of energy were transferred.

8th graders created a giant Bohr’s model to practice positioning of electrons on the orbitals and determining the number of valance electrons. Owen was the nucleus of the group and verified the positioning of each neutral atom as it was called out.
