Yesterday in a Salem Witch Trials activity, 8th Grade students played the Dot Game to see how quickly fear and suspicion can spread through a community. Just like in 1692, accusations often outweighed evidence. Little did they know, no one was guilty!

Oktoberfest 2025 Volunteer Sign Up
Sat Sept. 27 – Sun Oct. 5, 2025

Willkommen! Please click the link below to sign up for your volunteer slot for the 2025 Sts. Dennis & Joseph Oktoberfest! We appreciate and need your help to ensure success to strongly benefit our school. Please remember 5 hours of volunteer time are required for Oktoberfest per the school contract. We really need more than that to be fully staffed so kindly consider signing up for two shifts per household if you are willing and able.

There are several departments and time slots available. All are important to the functioning of the fest. Please double check your schedule before committing to a slot because the form will lock in the days before the event. Once it is locked, you will not be able to change your slot without contacting Jackie, the volunteer coordinator, and still receive contractual credit for your time. This helps us understand where we are full and where we still need help without last minute surprise changes. Descriptions of each slot are included. I look forward to an exciting event, working with each and every one of you!

High school and junior high slots are not included in this signup. Please reach out to me directly for any teens who would like hours.
Danke!

PreK4 early learners worked together to color large hearts. Ms. La read the book Chrysanthemum and demonstrated what happened to Chrysanthemum’s heart during the story when she heard unkind words. The heart crumbled. Now the paper heart was wrinkled. Even though kind words laid bandages on the wrinkled heart, it did not erase the lasting effects of why it is important to stop and think before we speak. It was also shared how each of our names are unique and valuable just as God intended for us. With this interactive activity, the children had an opportunity to learn about the impact of our words. At SDJCA, our hope is that they remember this virtue long beyond our classroom walls.
